The Sparks family — a unified toolbar, emoji bookmarks, and audio reflections that put the practitioner at the center of the study experience. Everything you need, right where you need it.
The Sparkbar is the unified toolbar that puts every study action within reach — no scrolling, no hunting through menus.
On detail pages (individual verses, sūtras, and glossary terms), the full Sparkbar appears with seven buttons across four pills — Sparkmarks, AI Sparks, Journal, Voice Sparks, Listen, SwamiGPT, and DharmaGPT.
On list pages (chapter and pāda listings), a compact version appears on every card — a single metallic pill with three buttons: 🔥 Flame for Sparkmarks, ✏️ Pencil for Journal, and ▶ Play for Listen. Sparkmark emoji appear inline in the pill, so you can see your bookmarks at a glance while browsing.
The left side of the Sparkbar opens panels with options and choices. 🔥 Flame (gold) opens your Sparkmarks — see which emoji you’ve placed, add new ones from the categorized picker, or remove them. The flame is visible to everyone, even before creating an account. ⚡ Lightning (purple) opens AI Sparks — illuminating the text with AI-powered annotations from classical and cross-tradition sources. Visible to Aspirant and Teacher members. AI Sparks generation requires a Teacher membership; Aspirant members see an upgrade prompt. ✏️ Pencil (blue) opens the Journal panel — write a reflection on this text, or generate a personalized journal prompt using AI. The journal link is available to all members; prompt generation requires Aspirant or higher.
The right side of the Sparkbar triggers immediate actions. ▶ Listen (teal) plays the verse or sūtra audio recitation — the button pulses gently while audio plays, and a teal shimmer sweeps across the translation text so you can read along. ✓ SwamiGPT (warm amber) opens the AI study companion rooted in classical tradition. Highlight any text first, and your selection becomes the question. 💬 DharmaGPT (green) opens the modern yoga teacher companion with the same highlight-to-ask flow. 💧 TapasAI (blue) opens your persistent AI journal companion — it knows your practice and grows with you.
When AI features are working, the Sparkbar tells you. The lightning bolt pulses purple while AI Sparks generate, with a purple shimmer scanning the translation. The pencil pulses blue during journal prompt generation, with a matching blue shimmer. And the listen button pulses teal alongside a teal shimmer while audio plays. Each color belongs to its feature — you always know what’s happening at a glance.
Emoji bookmarks for the texts that move you. As you study the Hatha Yoga Pradīpikā, the Yoga Sūtras, and the glossary, tap the ✦ icon on any verse, sūtra, or glossary term to tag it with up to three emoji. A personal way to mark what resonates, track what you’re studying, and build your own collection.
Each emoji means whatever it means to you. Use 🔥 for the verses that ignite something, ❤️ for what you love, 🙏 for what humbles you, 💡 for breakthroughs, ❓ for what puzzles you. There are no wrong answers — this is your personal language for the texts.
All your Sparkmarks gather here on this page, filterable by text type (HYP verses, Yoga Sūtras, glossary terms) and by emoji. Each item links back to the original text so you can revisit it. You can also export your full collection as a PDF or markdown file.
20-second audio reflections attached to journal entries. A spoken companion to your written reflections — sometimes the insight that arrives mid-breath doesn’t translate to the page. Voice Sparks give it a home.
When composing a journal entry, tap the microphone to record up to 20 seconds of audio. Choose an emoji and add a short description to give it context. The recording attaches to your entry and plays back on the entry page — a small, warm audio card with your chosen emoji, description, and a play button.
Teacher members can have Voice Sparks automatically transcribed using AI. The transcription appears alongside the audio card, making your spoken reflections searchable and quotable. Transcription can happen at upload (opt-in checkbox on the compose page) or on-demand from the entry page.
Sparklights let you highlight text on any verse, sūtra, or glossary term page in one of six colors. Select the words that resonate, pick a color from the floating Sparklights picker that appears, and the highlight applies instantly. Click any highlighted text to remove it.
Select text in the translation or definition area. A small flame button appears near your selection — click it to open the Sparklights color picker with six color squares: 🟥 🟧 🟨 🟩 🟦 🟪. Tap a color and the highlight applies instantly. Your highlights persist across sessions — they’re saved to your account just like Sparkmarks.
Karma Sparks are a way to appreciate fellow practitioners’ journal reflections. A drop making waves — your acknowledgment resonates outward.
Every journal entry shows a ripple icon with a count. Click it to send a Karma Spark. Click again to remove it. The count is visible to everyone; your individual spark is private to you. The ripple icon is colored in TapasAI blue, connecting the social layer to HYP Yoga’s journal and AI companion identity.
The Sparkbar appears automatically on every text page. On detail pages (individual verses, sūtras, and glossary terms), the full toolbar gives you all seven study actions. On list pages (chapter and pāda listings), a compact three-button pill on every card gives you quick access to Sparkmarks, Journal, and Listen — with your emoji bookmarks displayed inline. No setup required. Its features scale with your tier.
Sparkmarks appear as ✦ icons in the Sparkbar’s flame panel on verse cards, sūtra cards, and glossary term pages. Tap the flame to open the emoji picker and choose up to three emoji. Your full collection lives here at /sparks, with filters and export.
Sparklights live in the same flame panel as Sparkmarks. Select text on any verse, sūtra, or term page, then pick a color from the Sparklights category in the emoji picker. Your highlights are saved to your account and persist across sessions.
Karma Sparks appear on journal entry cards, entry detail pages, and profile pages — anywhere you encounter another practitioner’s writing. The ripple icon shows a count visible to everyone; your individual spark is private to you.
Voice Sparks live on the journal. Record when composing an entry, listen when reading one. The Sparkbar’s flame panel also offers a quick link to create a Voice Spark for the current text. Audio is stored privately in your account — only you can hear it unless you make the entry public.
Sparkmarks, Sparklights, Karma Sparks, and Voice Sparks are part of the 🔥 practitioner-created family — personal marks, highlights, appreciation, and recordings that come from you, not from AI. The Sparkbar also hosts AI Sparks ⚡️ for Teacher-tier practitioners, plus direct-action buttons for SwamiGPT, DharmaGPT, and Listen on the right side of the toolbar.
The Sparkbar appears for everyone, but its features scale with your tier. Sparkmarks, Sparklights, Karma Sparks, and Listen are available with any free account. AI Sparks and Voice Sparks require paid memberships.
